Jonathan Williams
GRADUATED FROM UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA SPRING 2009 Jonathan Williams was born on October 13, 1984 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Williams joined the University of Minnesota men’s basketball team in 2004-05, but redshirted his freshman season. Jonathan Williams has two career double-doubles for the Gophers. In his career, he has played in 57 games for the Gophers while starting in ten. In 2007-2008, Jonathan Williams played in the majority of games for his junior season. He brought his tally of career games to 86 with 12 starts. Jonathan Williams played 30 games his sophomore season and started eight times. The natural shot-blocker was 12th overall in blocks per game with an average of 0.97. Williams played exceptionally on January 27, 2007 versus Northwestern when he scored 13 points and had 14 rebounds, an assist, two blocks and a steal in 32 minutes. He also scored 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting and eight rebounds in 26 minutes at Illinois on February 3. Jonathan Williams’ 0.88 blocks per game in the 2005-06 season ranked him sixth overall in the Big Ten. Williams played his best game on January 18, when he scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 33 minutes at Iowa. He started his first career game versus Northwestern on January 7. Williams played two games his freshman season and was granted a medical redshirt because of a sprained knee. Jonathan Williams is a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. He also attended St. Cloud Apollo High School. Williams earned letters in basketball at both schools.
