Colton Iverson, like teammate Paul Carter, has basketball in his blood. Iverson's father was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics and his two sisters play basketball at the college level.

Colton Iverson is from Yankton, South Dakota. During his senior year at Yankton High School, Colton Iverson averaged 17.9 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks. He also led his team to a fifth place finish in the state tournament. Due to his solid playing skills, Colton Iverson was repeatedly selected to the All-State basketball team and was recognized as an All-Conference performer.
